A comprehensive product coding system to enable successful electronic trading  
  
Successful electronic trading and communication of product related data between computer systems requires the widespread adoption and use of a universal standard product coding system, enabling each trading partners’ system to recognise the products.

TSI Codes
Every item in the Luckins master data repository is identified by a unique numeric code – the TSI Code. Already incorporated into many major contractors’ and wholesalers’ IT systems through its inclusion in the Luckins databases, the TSI Code has been adopted as the standard for electronic trading in the building services sectors.

Companies who wish to trade electronically but are not Luckins data service users may also licence the TSI Codes for incorporation into their own databases. Luckins will carry out analysis of their database to identify the TSI Codes required and match them to their existing product data.

Product Range Codes
Grouping items for application of discounts is a major task which must be undertaken by anyone installing computerised sales or purchasing systems. Working closely with manufacturers Luckins have grouped items in the database into standard product range groupings, each identified by a 12 digit code and closely mirroring the standard discount bands. Use of Luckins' Product Range codes can dramatically speed up system set up and implementation time and ongoing maintenance and serve as a powerful tool for exchanging terms with trading partners.
